1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions:
- "Service" refers to watch repair, restoration, and related horological services provided by Finewound
- "Client" or "You" refers to the individual or entity requesting service
- "We," "Us," or "Our" refers to Finewound, located at No. 46, Wenhua Road, East District, Chiayi City 600, Taiwan
- "Timepiece" or "Watch" refers to the mechanical watch submitted for service
- "Agreement" refers to these Terms and Conditions along with any service estimate or invoice
2. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting a watch for service or using our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our services.
You must be at least 18 years of age to enter into this agreement. By using our services, you represent that you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to enter binding contracts.
3. Service Description
Finewound provides the following horological services:
- Watch strap and buckle restoration
- Complete mechanical movement servicing
- Comprehensive timepiece restoration including case, dial, and movement work
- Related horological services as agreed upon in writing
Services are provided on a case-by-case basis following initial assessment. We reserve the right to decline service for watches outside our scope of expertise or capability.
4. Service Process
4.1 Assessment and Estimate
Upon receiving your timepiece, we conduct an initial assessment to determine necessary work. A written estimate outlining recommended services, timeline, and pricing is provided before proceeding. Work begins only upon your written or verbal approval of the estimate.
4.2 Additional Work
If additional issues are discovered during service that were not apparent during initial assessment, we will contact you with a revised estimate. We will not proceed with additional work without your approval, except for minor adjustments necessary to complete approved services.
4.3 Turnaround Time
Estimated service timelines are provided in good faith but are not binding commitments. Actual completion time may vary based on component availability, complexity of work, and workshop schedule. We will communicate any significant delays promptly.
5. Pricing and Payment
Published pricing reflects standard service categories. Final pricing is confirmed in your written estimate. Payment is due upon completion of service before the watch is returned.
Accepted payment methods include cash, bank transfer, and credit card. All prices are stated in New Taiwan Dollars (NT$) and include applicable taxes.
If you choose not to proceed with recommended service after assessment, a diagnostic fee may apply to cover the time invested in evaluation.
6. Client Responsibilities
When submitting a watch for service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate contact information and notification of any changes
- Disclose known issues or previous repair history
- Remove valuable items (papers, boxes, extra straps) before submission unless specifically requested for service
- Respond to service communications in a timely manner
- Collect your watch within 30 days of completion notification
7. Warranty on Service Work
Service work is covered by a warranty period as specified in your service documentation, typically ranging from six months to one year depending on the service performed. This warranty covers defects in workmanship and materials used during service.
The warranty does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear
- Damage from accidents, misuse, or improper handling
- Service performed by other parties after our work
- Components not serviced or replaced during the covered service
- Water damage if proper usage instructions were not followed
To make a warranty claim, contact us with your service documentation. We will assess the issue and provide appropriate remedy at no charge if covered under warranty terms.
8. Limitation of Liability
We exercise care and skill in servicing timepieces. However, watch repair involves inherent risks, particularly with vintage or damaged watches. We are not liable for:
- Pre-existing damage not apparent during initial assessment
- Deterioration of fragile components (particularly on vintage watches)
- Loss of water resistance if the watch case cannot maintain proper seal due to age or damage
- Cosmetic variations in replacement parts when original specification components are unavailable
Our maximum liability for any claim related to service is limited to the amount paid for the specific service in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or sentimental damages.
9. Unclaimed Watches
Watches must be collected within 30 days of service completion notification. After this period, a storage fee may apply. Watches unclaimed for 180 days may be sold to recover service costs after reasonable attempts to contact you have been made.
10. Intellectual Property
All content on our website, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is the property of Finewound or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.
11. Privacy and Data Protection
Your personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using our services, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in that policy.
12. Disclaimers
While we strive for the highest quality service, we provide our services "as is" without warranties of specific outcomes. We do not guarantee that serviced watches will achieve specific timing accuracy, though we work to bring performance within acceptable ranges for the watch type.
Any information provided about watch care, maintenance schedules, or general horological advice is for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as professional advice for specific circumstances.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Finewound harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of our services, violation of these terms, or violation of any rights of another party.
14. Termination
Either party may terminate the service agreement before work begins. If you terminate after work has commenced, you will be responsible for payment of work completed and non-refundable expenses incurred.
We reserve the right to refuse service or terminate the agreement if we determine that the requested service is beyond our capabilities or if there are concerns about the watch's provenance.
15. Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute, we encourage informal resolution through direct communication. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, both parties agree to attempt mediation before pursuing legal action.
15.1 Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Taiwan. Any legal proceedings shall be conducted in the courts of Chiayi City, Taiwan.
16. General Provisions
16.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms and Conditions, together with any written service estimate or invoice, constitute the entire agreement between you and Finewound regarding the services.
16.2 Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
16.3 Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
16.4 Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights under this agreement without our written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations to a successor business entity.
17. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes become effective upon posting to our website. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
For active service agreements, changes will not apply retroactively to work already in progress.
